FURIOUS commuters stranded at Manningtree Railway Station just days after ticket price hikes were announced have branded the service as a "scandal".
Over-running engineering work at Ipswich caused severe disruption to rail passengers between Norwich and London Liverpool Street.
Several trains were cancelled along the route through Ipswich including in Manningtree.
Other trains between Colchester and London Liverpool Street were delayed as a result with problems on the lines for several hours on Tuesday morning.
Derek Monnery, chairman of the Essex Rail Users Federation and a Manningtree commuter, said: "Yet again the travelling public are being subjected to a non-existent rail service to London because Network Rail has failed to complete engineering work in the Ipswich area leaving the lines blocked and trains unable to run."
