A HIGH school has become the first in Tendring to go green and install solar panels in a bid to save cash and the environment.
Manningtree High School now has 190 solar panels on its roof as part of ongoing work to be eco-friendly.
Director of operations Carol Sinclair said: “Schools use a lot of electricity what with the lights and the computers on all the time so this was an amazing thing to be able to do.
“We are the first school in Tendring to have them and one of the first in north Essex.”
Students will learn about solar energy as part of the scheme and can even remotely track the power produced by the panels on the internet.
