A SCOUT group has raised more than £1,500 for a hospital’s cancer wing.

The 1st Lawford Scouts presented staff at Colchester General Hospital’s Urology Cancer Support Unit with a cheque for £1,513.50 after a weekend of fundraising last month.

Among the events were a shuffleboard tournament, a Michael Buble tribute act and a Sunday lunch. Scout leader Mick Lang, who is also chairman of the unit, said: “This is the fourth donation the Scouts have made.

“The support group has more than 200 members and meet on the first Wednesday of every month. Each session gives vital information on urology cancers and they are a lifeline to its members.”
