A DEDICATED volunteer has been rewarded for her commitment to a children’s centre in Ramsey.
Lucy Bennett has been awarded the regional Marsh Trust Barnardo’s Volunteer of the Year Award for her work at the Windmill Children’s Centre in Mayes Lane.
She has been volunteering at the centre for six years and helps to run activities and events.
Lucy also became a trained volunteer breast feeding supporter and attends weekly Baby Beginnings group meetings in Harwich.
She was nominated for the award by Barnardo’s Volunteer Co-ordinator, Frances Jones.
Lucy, 41, worked as a swimming teacher and nanny, before volunteering at the centre.
She said said: “It was quite an honour to win the award. Frances told me she had nominated me – I was surprised and a bit shocked."
