WINNING artwork from a children’s drawing competition will be on display at a tourist attraction in Harwich.

Every year, a themed drawing event is run by Harwich Society volunteers at the Ha’Penny Pier visitor centre, and this year the theme was pirates.

Youngsters were given the key to a treasure chest of dressing-up clothes to help get them into character for the competition, and the winners have now been announced.

The under-six winners are Kian Seaman and Joshua Mobbs, and a special merit award went to three-year-old Matilda Belsham.

Six to ten years old winners are Bethany Studd, Jonathan Adams and Alan Smith, and a special merit award went to Daniel Simojoki. Amber Purrell won the 11 to 15 years category, and Lorry Adams and Megan Adams won the 15 years-plus section.

Best in competition went to four-year-old Kian Seaman.

All the winning entries will be displayed in the Ha’Penny Pier visitor centre at the beginning of the 2015 tourism season.
