A TOWN centre bank that is invaluable to senior citizens could end up just another eyesore building when it closes next year, it is feared.
Customers will be forced to travel to Clacton or Colchester to access services when HSBC in Dovercourt High Street closes on March 6.
The shock announcement came this week when noticeboards were put up in the branch.
It comes after NatWest in Dovercourt closed its doors in July.
HSBC customer Antony Tarmin said: “I’m fuming.
“It’s another nail in the coffin for the town centre – it will become another eyesore."
A spokesman for HSBC said: “In common with other high street banks, footfall in our branches has fallen dramatically.
“It is never a decision we take lightly, but on occasions this has meant we have needed to close a branch and our Dovercourt branch is a case in point.
