SEA Scouts are celebrating after securing funding of more than £6,000.
The 4th Dovercourt Scout group has received £6,808 from the Big Lottery Fund, which will be used build a garage and compound to store equipment and the group’s new minibus near their base in Barrack Lane.
Delighted Scout leader Alan Baxter said: “It is very good for us because we have an old site in Harwich, but the rent on it is increasing, so the committee has decided to build a garage next to the Scout hut.
“We also have our new minibus, which needs to be parked in a secure place, and it makes sense to keep everything close together.
"Planning permission has already been granted and we hope to have the garage ready in the next three to four months.”
