TALKS have been held to look at how to fix ongoing congestion and traffic chaos at Manningtree Railway Station.

Councillors representing Manningtree, Mistley and Lawford as well as Tendring and Essex County Council met with train operator Abellio Greater Anglia to discuss the impact of Manningtree Railway Station on the nearby roads.

Carlo Guglielmi, district and county councillor for Manningtree, said: "A report is going to be drawn up for Tendring Council's cabinet from the meeting adressing all that was discussed and maybe some priorities of action that needs to be taken."

Issues resulting from the station, in Lawford, include commuters parking on nearby residential roads to avoid paying the ticket prices for the car park.

There are also concerns that stretch back for decades over the station underpass, which is branded as a "bottleneck" at peak times and after traffic is diverted from crashes on the nearby A12.

An Abellio Greater Anglia spokesman said: "We are working in partnership with the local authority whhich is looking at ways to improve traffic flow outside Manningtree station, in addition the group is looking at potential for any further improvements at Manningtree car park."
