BENEFITS bosses in Tendring say they are committed to supporting the district’s Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), despite a funding setback.
Paul Honeywood, Tendring Council’s cabinet member for housing and benefits, praised the branch for its work with cash-strapped residents.
It is expected that more residents will find themselves in financial trouble after the Government’s new Universal Credit benefits system is launched in the area later this year.
Tendring Council’s £144,000 grant currently makes up almost a quarter of the branch’s overall funding, but the authority is looking at providing further funds to help with the extra workload.
Speaking at a meeting of the council’s cabinet, Mr Honeywood said: “We are actively looking to work with the CAB on how we will assist residents during the transition to and in future within the Universal Credit regime.”
