HOLLAND Shore Amateur Boxing Club’s Max Seymour hopes to punch his way to victory in the National Youth Championships.

The 17-year-old, from Clacton, is taking part in the Essex and East Anglian round, in Sudbury, on Saturday.

And coach Billy Taylor is confident the club’s rising star has the capability and potential to go all the way to the national finals.

“I’ve been really impressed with Max,” said Taylor, who founded and runs the St Osyth-based club along with Graham Moughton.

“He won the Essex Novice Championships last year and that’s why we decided to put him forward for the full National Championships.

“He’s a very strong, dedicated lad with a lot of capability and potential.

“That’s why I believe he can go all the way, if his head’s right and he gets the right draw.”

Seymour, who competes in the under-69kg category, will discover his opponent on the night and, if he wins, will progress to the next round on February 7.
