LIAM Inwood and Mark Grover won the eighth Top Dogs event, at Clacton Golf Club.

They prevailed with 45 stableford points, on countback from second-placed Matt Baker and Adam Powell.

In third were Keith Buxton and Tony Chandler, with 44.

Clacton’s ladies’ section played a pairs Hi-Low stableford competition and the winners were Kath Sinnott and Jackie Bright, with 46 points.

In second were Jennie Corbyn and Sandy Cocker, with 45, and in third were Judy Speck and Eve Bracci, with 41.

Clacton’s seniors’ section played a stableford competition and the winner was Laurie Faraugia, with 41 points, on countback from second-place Alf Smith.

Tony Burnside was third, with 38.

Meanwhile, Clacton Golf Club’s Pheasant Pluckers Golf Society made a special presentation to the Essex and Hertfordshire Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT).

They were joined by Sabi Blyth and Clair Mitchell, from EHAAT.

John Richmond, the Pluckers’ 2014 captain, has been collecting money for the charity throughout his year in office and was pleased to hand over a cheque for £2,400.

Blyth expressed her thanks on behalf of the trust and assured the society that the money will be put to good use.

She was also pleased to see that the club had installed a defibrillator.
