CHANGES could be made to planned commuter parking restrictions in Lawford after fears were raised homeowners and shoppers would be unfairly affected.

Lawford Parish councillors have called for a one-hour restriction in Station Road as a way of stopping commuters using Manningtree Railway Station leaving their vehicles on the road all day.

It would work in the same way as the midday one-hour parking ban on the nearby Lawford Dale estate.

But at a meeting between members of the council and Tendring Local Highways Panel, proposals were put forward for no parking on either side of the road between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, as well as on some adjoining roads.

Councillors at the latest Lawford Parish Council meeting agreed to ask the highways panel to alter the scheme to create a one-hour parking ban, with the restriction being at different times on either side of the road, so residents could avoid being fined.
