A BID to get streetlights switched back on was rejected as the ruling Conservatives at County Hall rejected all budget amendments and stuck to their own plan.
The new budget for Essex County Council was agreed along party lines last week. Its portion of council tax has been frozen at £1,086.75.
The council has also approved plans for £1billion of capital project investments.
However there have been complaints from the Labour Party and the Lib Dems after all their amendments were rejected.
