ZELLIE the Romanian rescue dog has finally settled down after more than four months on the run.
The pooch escaped after just two hours at home with its new owners and ran loose in the Tendring countryside over the winter.
All attempts to catch two-year-old Zellie with food and traps failed - and she made a bolt for it at the first sight of humans.
However, after joining up with a herd of horses at Old Hall Farm in Heath Road, Tendring, she finally decided her roaming days were over.
Farmer Tina Horwood spent weeks getting Zellie’s trust and the German Shepherd cross has now settled with the family, which includes five horses, five dogs, 30 chickens, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs.
Mrs Horwood contacted the original owners in Great Bromley, who paid for Zellie’s flight over to England after spotting her on a website, and they felt she should stay on the farm.
