THE memories of children rescued from Nazi Germany and brought to Dovercourt more than 75 years ago have been shared with pupils.
Five of the children saved as part of Kindertransport have relived their experiences during a visit to Harwich and Dovercourt High School.
They were helping pupils with an Exits and Entrances project, in which the youngsters are examining the part played by the town in rescuing the children.
Now referred to as the Kinder , they shared their memories of the journey, showed pictures and were interviewed by Year Nine pupils .
Deputy headteacher Simon Garnham said: “It was a very moving day with five veterans of the Kindertransport returning to Dovercourt, most for the first time since they arrived in the winter of 1938/39.
“Our Year Nine students were wonderful – they hosted impeccably and recorded the recollections of the veterans on camera or dictaphone to create a lasting record.”
