A TAXI driver was repeatedly punched and had his takings stolen after an early morning robbery in Harwich.
Police rushed to George Street at 1.30am on Saturday after the driver was attacked by two men whilst he was in the car.
More than £220 and a pair of prescription sunglasses were taken.
The driver suffered facial injuries including cuts, swelling to his nose and lips and a bottom tooth went through his chin causing a small hole.
Police sent sniffer dogs to the scene immediately afterwards.
The men have been described as white, aged in their 20s or 30s, with one wearing a blue hooded top and the other wearing a black and grey hooded top.
