A DOZEN stalls lined Misley Quay as campaigners battling to have it registered as a village green held a garage sale.
More than a £1000 was raised as bargain hunters braved the rain on Sunday morning.
Mistley Quay was awarded the village green status by Essex County Council last year.
But the decision will now be reviewed by the High Court at a hearing later this year after TWL Logistics challenged the outcome.
The money raised from the sale, organised by campaign group Free The Quay, will be used to fight the legal challenge.
The group have been fighting against a 6ft high wire mesh fence put up for safety reasons by TWL in 2008.
Free The Quay chairman Simon Bullimore said: “We had terrific support from local residents who cleared their garages, their kitchens, their wardrobes and other deep recesses of their houses of items eagerly snapped up by buyers from far and wide."
A 70s disco night will be held on May 16 to raise further funds for the legal battle.
It takes place at Mistley Church Hall on New Road from 8pm.
Entrance costs £12 and anyone wanting to attend should email hurstplace@hotmail.co.uk.
