A BUMPER turnout saw more than 1,000 cyclists saddle up for the Tour de Tendring on Sunday.

Perfect weather meant 300 cyclists signed up on the day–on top of the 700 already registered ahead of the crowd-pulling event, which is in its 22nd year.

They had the pick of three routes covering six, 20 and 60 miles – the longest taking in Clacton, St Osyth and Great Bentley.

Cyclists set off from Dovercourt Bay Lifestyles, with the 60-mile race started by Tendring Council chairman Val Guglielmi and the family race by vice-chairman Fred Nicholls.

There was also a host of entertainment throughout the day, including Chase Lane Cheerleaders, Ash Randell and Tom Conners with their football and basketball freestyle performances, Harwich Choir, Elite Twirlers Majorettes, music from Harry Cash and Loose Change, entertainer Magic Marvo and music from Jared Harley.
