A DISABLED man whose mobility scooter was stolen and thrown into the sea has been presented with a brand new one as well as a secure shelter after residents donated more than £2,600 to help him.
Allan Lofts, of Marine Parade, Dovercourt, was left housebound due to osteoarthritis and heart condition when his mobility scooter was destroyed in February.
Keith Taylor, of KCT Mobility in Dovercourt High Street, launched a fundraising bid to help the pensioner.
He said: "I've been amazed by the response.
"It restores your confidence in people."
A new shelter and hardstanding on the driveway means Mr Loft's new scooter can be kept secure - electricity has been connected up so it can be charged too.
