A CYCLE ride between village pubs is hoped to raise more than £1,500 for the Essex Air Ambulance.

The annual Tour De Taverns ride was held on Sunday with cyclists starting at Ye Olde Cherry Tree in Little Oakley before visiting The Castle in Ramsey, The Village Maid in Bradfield and the Bricklayers Arms in Little Bentley.

Pubgoer Richard Griggs, who helps organise the event, said: "The riders, enjoying the mainly sunny weather and light winds, set out on the 20 mile route, that starts and finishes at Ye Olde Cherry Tree.

"Sponsorship money has been pledged to both individual riders and the team as a whole with money also collected from customers at the pubs visited along the route.

"It is hoped that the total amount raised for the Air Ambulance will be close to the £1850 total raised by the pub last year."
