BEN Parkin has left Wivenhoe Town and joined Thurlow Nunn League neighbours FC Clacton.

After agreeing a one-year contract, he admitted it was time for a fresh start and a new challenge with the Seasiders.

Wivenhoe were relegated to division one last season and that was a key factor in Parkin’s decision to quit the Dragons.

“It was definitely a wrench to leave,” said the 22-year-old, who made 120 appearances and scored 20 goals for the Maple Tree Cars Stadium side.

“However, when we got relegated I knew the time was right to move on.

“It was time for a fresh start and a new challenge."
