A COUNCIL could spend thousands of pounds to stop residents being slapped with parking tickets on bank holidays.
Lawford Parish Council is set to consider whether to use £3,000 of its own money to amend signs on the Lawford Dale estate.
The estate has a one-hour no parking rule from noon on weekdays to stop commuters using the residential streets when travelling from nearby Manningtree railway station.
Last month, the Standard reported how, despite councillors asking to have the rules amended, parking bosses said restrictions would still apply.
Julie Langstone, who chairs the highways committee, said: “When it was first put in, it was to stop commuters parking all day. “Now I feel we are being penalised for parking outside our own homes.”
The councillors conceded it was unlikely to be resolved by the next bank holiday.
