A ROYAL Navy sailor from Harwich is taking part in Nato’s largest maritime exercise of the year in the Baltic Sea.
Andrew “Greeny” Greenfield is deployed on HMS Iron Duke, taking part in BALTOPS 15.
The multinational exercise is led by Strike Force Nato and involves more than 5,000 personnel from 17 nations.
The UK has three ships deployed on the Baltic operations.
Mr Greenfield, 29, who went to Harwich School, works in the operations room helping track all the participating Nato vessels.
He also acts as the ship’s photographer and fires the MK 44 mini-gun during gunnery serials.
“It’s been very hard work, but taking part in large serials with so many other foreign countries is one of the reasons I joined up,” he said.
