THE son of a former amateur footballer is appealing for help to unlock the secrets behind this celebration picture.

Andrew Mills, of Fallowfield Close, Dovercourt, wants to find out the date, venue and name of the cup won by Ramsey War Memorial FC.

He thinks the photo is from either the 1940s or 1950s.

The man holding the cup is his father Brian Mills.

Other players pictured are his uncle, Stan Mills, Dave Martin and Dick Farrington.

The picture was uncovered when Andrew’s mother was going through his father’s possessions following his death.

He said: “The main question is whether anyone around can recognise which cup it was.

“They were a bit all-conquering in those days, so winning a cup hasn’t necessarily stuck in the mind.”

Do you recognise anyone in the photograph? Or do you know the name of the cup, venue or date the picture was taken?
