A PRIZE draw which offered entrants the chance to win a hotel has been cancelled due to lack of interest.

The owners of the Hotel Continental, in Marine Parade, Dovercourt announced plans to give away their business of 18 years in a draw last year.

Tickets were priced at £1,000 and approximately 2,000 would have needed to be sold, but less than 100 people entered meaning there were not enough sales to make the project viable.

Gordon Hoyles, who has owned the hotel for more than 18 years with his wife Blossom, said people who had expressed their interest failed to back up their words by buying a ticket.

He said: “It hasn’t come off. Blossom and I are naturally very disappointed.

“There was lots of interest lots of questions, lots of people saying what a great idea but very few putting their money where their mouth is."

Everyone who bought a ticket will be given a full refund.
