A FARM park could be replaced with homes as part of a huge community project.
Initial plans for the future of Mistley Place Park in New Road, Mistley are set to go on show in September.
The site has been run as an animal sanctuary for 17 years and is home to more than 2,000 animals at any one time.
But the owners put part of the park, a 12 acre slice, up for sale in 2012 for £950,000 with hopes the cash could pay for the animals for the rest of their lives.
It is now hoped the majority of the 24-acre park could be used for the community - an idea mooted by not-for-profit group the Three Parishes Trust.
Early proposals for the land, including fewer than 100 homes, a new cafe and cultural venue will be displayed at Mistley Church Hall on New Road between 2.30pm and 8pm on Friday September 18.
It is believed the homes would be built on eight acres of the land with a further 16 restored for community use.
Stephen Clarke, spokesman for Montague Asset Management which is working with the owners and the trust, said he is keen to get the views of residents as they look to try and deliver a facility which suits the needs of people who live in the area.
