A CARER has raised more than £600 after having her head shaved for a cancer charity.

Marion Railton, of Harwich Road, Little Oakley, joined in with national campaign, Brave the Shave, which urged people to have their locks chopped in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The big shave took place in the window of Reedmans Florist in Main Road, Dovercourt, on Sunday.

She said: “It was an absolutely fantastic day and quite a few people came to see me having it done.

“Some of the hair has been sent off to the Little Princess Trust so they can make wigs out of it.

“It is a little bit cold first thing in the morning, but apart from that it is fine – it will grow back there is no problem there.

“Before I did it people were telling me it would look awful, but now I have had a few comments saying that I am carrying it off well.

“I would like Joan Derek and Matthew Reedman for setting it all up and thank you to James Raymond for filming the event, but most of all everyone who sponsored me.”
