A DEVELOPER has won his appeal to build 24 new flats on the site of a former health centre.
Glenn Smith of G & K Groundworks will now be able to choose between putting up either one or two bedroom flats in Main Road, Dovercourt.
The scheme was appealed over Tendring Council’s refusal of one scheme and non-determination of another within the required time limit.
The council had granted permission for plans for the one-bedroom flats, but the developer decided to appeal before the decision notice was issued.
Each case was considered separately and both were found in favour of Mr Smith.
The inspector said he had carefully considered all the representations and none of the matters raised warranted the appeals being dismissed.
He said: “The proposal will deliver much-needed housing.
“It is also previously developed land and these benefits weigh heavily in its favour.”
Conditions include ensuring a satisfactory appearance, landscape works, screen walls and fences.
