A POLICE officer has been honoured after spending more than two decades in the force.

Neighbourhood constable for Manningtree and Mistley Judith Currie has clocked up 21 years on the beat and was presented with an award from chief superintendent Carl O’Malley to mark the occasion.

To qualify officers must have more than 20 years service an exemplary record of conduct and outsanding character.

PC Currie said she was delighted to have been recognised for her work.

"I’m very proud to accept this award,” she said.

“I enjoy policing my local community, where everyone knows me as I live in the area.

“I have a good rapport with the parish councils and various community groups – and long may it continue.”

Colchester constable David Underwood was also recognised for his 28 years in the job and Mr O’Malley said the pair should be proud of their achievements.

He said: “The long service award is a chance to recognise the loyalty and hard work of our officers and staff, and an opportunity to say thank you.

"Both these officers have shown real dedication and commitment to their local communities throughout their service”.
