THOUSANDS of people across our region today join the nation in paying tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Remembrance Day parades are taking place at churches and war memorials across the district to honour the fallen.

People of all ages will wear their poppies with pride as they pay their respects.

In Harwich the parade sets off from Harwich Quay at 2.30pm and makes its way to St Nicholas Church for a service at 3pm.

At Great Oakley there is a service at All Saints' Church at 10am, before a ceremony at the war memorial.

A remembrance service will also be held at the Little Oakley memorial at 11am and a short service will take place at St Michael’s Church in Ramsey at 11am.

In Ramsey there is also a service at 10.45am at the war memorial.

The Manningtree Royal British Legion's remembrance parade starts in Market Square at 2.30pm and will march to the town’s war memorial for a service at 3pm.

Manningtree Methodist Church is holding a remembrance service at 10.15am.
