PLANS to build two new flats in Harwich’s High Street have been thrown out.
Tendring Council rejected the proposal which is at the back of a shop on an unused area of land which is currently overgrown.
Each flat would have two bedrooms and be accessed by a separate side entrance.
The council decided the scheme was unacceptable backland development which would be out of character and would set a precedent for a similar development at the rear of a row of shops and properties.
Harwich Town Council objected to the application due to it being backland development with inappropriate access and no parking.
