A MAP maker will see his work screened in a hotly anticipated new TV show starring Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston.

Dennis Hawes, managing director of Roger Lascelles, Bradfield, said he was stunned to receive a call from the producers of The Night Manager – a six-part spy thriller set to air on BBC One next weekend.

The show is an adaptation of a novel of the same name, penned by noted espionage writer and former real-life spy John le Carré.

Mr Hawes said: “It was strange really because we never know who will contact us when we’re picking up the phone – we produce all sorts of maps.

“But it was very exciting to be asked to help.”

Mr Hawes and his team often spend up to six months working on mapping areas for different publications or organisations.

They recently finished a map displaying all of the known bicycle routes on offer on the Isle of Wight, and have charted the position of over 440 ski resorts in the Alps.

But this is the first time the company has been approached to have one of its designs included in a television show.

“They were looking for mapping to use in the upcoming series and came across our company online,” said Mr Hawes.

“For the show, we supplied a map to use in part of the scenery.

“Obviously I can’t say too much as the series has yet to start, but it will be mapping concerning the locations of villains in the show.”

The Night Manager is a six-part miniseries starring Hugh Laurie, Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Coleman, starting on Sunday, February 21.

The story unfolds in the shadowy recesses of Whitehall and Washington, where an unholy alliance operates between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade.
