A WOMAN was taken to hospital after a police car and a learner car were involved in a crash on a roundabout.

Two Essex Police vehicles had been on their way to a call when the incident happened at about 1.50pm on Tuesday near the Queensway roundabout in Southend.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “A car was involved in a collision with a white Renault car at the Queensway roundabout in Southend.

“It happened at around 1.50pm.

“The driver of the Renault was injured and she was taken to hospital for treatment for whiplash injuries.

“The police officers in the vehicle were not injured.”

The spokesman said the second police car was not involved in the collision.

Officers were on their way to a call about a concern for somebody’s safety and the second car was able to continue on to the scene.

Both cars were towed away a short while later.
