HARD-WORKING fundraisers praised the “fantastic" support of the community after raising more than £1,000 for the family of a little boy killed by a dog.

Teresa Williams spent three weeks organising a superhero-themed day of fun, in aid of the family of Archie and Daniel-Jay Darby.

Archie, who was four-months-old, was killed and his brother, Daniel- Jay, was left with life-changing injuries after a Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog attacked the pair.

The family we re at Archie’s aunt, Clare Ferdinand’s house in Harwich Road, Colchester, when the attack happened.

Mrs Williams, of Artillery Drive, Dovercourt, approached her close friend Maureen Labbett, great-grandmother of the two brothers, and suggested staging the event.

Popular Disney characters and superheroes descended on the Park Pavilion, Harwich, on Sunday.

Mrs Williams said: “Maureen was there and she has been just over the moon with the support we’ve received. The family are all just really lovely people.

“We raised £711 on the day and £430 so far through the justgiving page - so well over £1,100.

“I was particularly pleased with all the people who came along to help out on the day. It was fantastic.”
