MUCH-NEEDED facilities including a new village hall and changing rooms could be built if plans are given the green light.

Ramsey and Parkeston Parish Council has applied to build a new village hall and other facilities at the recreation ground in Wix Road.

The scheme includes plans for new toilets, changing rooms and a food and drinks kiosk, while a new hall would house a bar and kitchen.

Suzanne Howe, Ramsey parish councillor, said: “To have the field and hall in different locations is not ideal.

“Currently there is the hall in Church Road and the recreation ground in Wix Road.

“If approved and built, these facilities will make all of our events much better for everyone.

“At the moment football teams have to use a portable toilet. We have no facilities.

“These plans are vital.

“I urge anyone who supports what we are doing to visit the Tendring Council planning website and register that support.”

Gary Stanford, of Wick Lane, Dovercourt, said the plans were just what the community needs.

“This will attract more people to visit the park and support the local football teams playing at Ramsey.

“This is a perfect plan to use the site to its full potential and should be backed by all.

“I look forward to seeing the new facilities soon and using them too, as my kids love Ramsey park.”

Gemma Ricketts, of Rosebank, Dovercourt, added: “As a family we use the park a lot, especially in the summer.

“To have toilet facilities would finish off the beautiful park as that is the only thing missing.

“My son is the captain of Harwich and Parkeston Youth FC and they use this site as their training ground and home ground, it would be amazing if they had somewhere warm to get ready and changed in.

“We also have a lot of parents ask from the opposing team where our toilets are and feel a bit embarrassed to say we haven’t got one.”

“I really hope you approve this for us, the boys and everyone else that visits the park.”
