POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an incident where fuel was stolen from a car and a hole was drilled into the petrol tank.

The car, a blue Mazda, was parked in a residential area in Earlhams Close, in Harwich, between 6pm on Wednesday, January 18 and 6am on Thursday, January 19.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “When the victim, a woman in her 60s, went to start the vehicle it failed and she saw petrol over the road.

“She then found a hole had been drilled or punched into her petrol tank.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ps Terry Jacobs at Harwich police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
