THE UK Independence Party have gained a district council seat following a by-election in Tendring.
The Great and Little Oakley ward seat on Tendring Council was left vacant following the resignation of leading councillor Tom Howard.
A by-election held on Thursday was won by UKIP candidate Michael Bush.
He was elected after polling 216 votes.
The turnout for the by-election was 35.08 percent.
