FANS of the wizarding world can look forward to a magical day of activities during a Harry Potter themed event.

Dovercourt Skate Rink, in Lower Marine Parade, will be transforming in to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for visitors to get a taste of J.K Rowling’s sell-out book series in real life.

There will even be the chance for followers of the Harry Potter movie franchise to meet some of the actors who featured in the hit film series.

Michael Henbury, who played a goblin in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II will be signing autographs and talking to visitors alongside actors Martin Ballantyne and Mick Fryer-Kesley who have appeared as extras in the blockbusters.

As Hogwarts is linked to animals of the magical realm including rats, cats, spiders and owls there will be a mini-beasts petting area and falconry display with owls from Kings Falconry at the event.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to discover a potions rooms and can enjoy a browse at various Harry Potter themed stalls throughout the day.

Organiser Chris Scutt, of Dovercourt Skate Rink, said he thought half term would be an ideal time to hold the event for residents.

He said: “We are hoping to bring something different for the community to enjoy.

“There isn’t a lot normally happening in half term and the popularity of Harry Potter we thought it would be an idea experience for people.

“We have priced it at just £4 for advance tickets to make it affordable for the community and any profits made from the event will be invested into the rink for future generations.

“Where else would you be able to take a family to see film stars, owls, mini-beasts and be involved in potion making for that amount?”

The event is being held on June 1 from 11am until 4pm.

Tickets are on sale now for £4 and can be purchased by visiting, www.simplyskating.co.uk. Tickets bought on the day will cost £7.
