A FESTIVE sing-along has funded a special evening of entertainment for an Alzheimer’s group.
A total of 175 members of Harwich, Clacton and Colchester Alzheimer’s group enjoyed watching Mamma Mia at the Electric Theatre, in Harwich last Tuesday.
The event was made possible from £400 being raised by the Harwich Society’s charity carol signing last December.
The society agreed that the money raised would be used to stage and event for the benefit of local Alzheimer’s patients and their carers and families.
During the show’s interval volunteers from the Alzheimer’s Society led community singing and a second event is being considered for later in the year.
Anna Rendell-Knights, chairman of the Harwich Society’s social group, said: “The Harwich Society annual carol singing is always a lovely event and it is great to know it funded an equally lovely occasion.
“Everyone was given a free ice cream or bag of sweets to help the afternoon along and the Electric Palace came alive with song and laughter. It was fantastic.”
