A MUM is organising a concert to raise money for the families of victims killed in UK terror attacks.

Amy Murray, of Harwich, was so moved by the recent deaths in Manchester and London she felt compelled to help.

She is arranging a charity concert, called One Love, tomorrow at the Kingsway Hall in Kingsway, Dovercourt.

Local bands and singers will take to the stage for free with all money raised going to the British Red Cross UK Solidarity Fund.

Launched on Sunday, the fund will support people who have been injured, bereaved or traumatised by terror attacks in the UK.

Amy, 30, a mother-of-one, said: “Everyone shares statuses on Facebook about the terrorist attacks but not many people actually do anything.

“Harwich is a good community that sticks together so I thought it would be nice to put on an event and raise some money.

“I was devastated when I heard about the Manchester bombing, for all the children and their families, for everyone that lost someone.

“It’s sickening somebody could do that.

“I want to raise awareness for everybody to stand together as a nation to let them know we are not scared.

“People feel too scared to go to London, people don’t want to go to concerts or on trains and buses.

“But watching the One Love Manchester Concert on TV makes your proud to be British.”

The Manchester bombing at the Ariana Grande concert on May 22 took the lives of 22 people including children and teenagers.

Just weeks later, on Saturday night, terrorists targeted London Bridge and Borough Market killing eight people and leaving many more fighting for their lives.

Amy said: “I thought I would try to organise a concert in Harwich and help raise money.

“I put something on Facebook and it just went crazy with people saying they want to do something to help and artists offering to play for free.

“I’ve got quite a few people helping me and we have been given Kingsway Hall for free.

“We have a photographer coming and festival face-painting so people can have the one love heart.”

Doors open at 7pm on Saturday, June 10. Tickets are £5 on the door.
