A HANDFUL of fairy dust is being sprinkled over Dovercourt this weekend for an enchanted festival.

Dovercourt Skating Rink, in Lower Marine Parade, will be covered with mythical creatures as part of a fairy and troll festival on Sunday, July 16.

The event, which has been inspired by the 2016 fantasy film Trolls, will see magical beasts including a white and pink unicorn.

The festival will also being holding a fancy dress competition at 3pm where judges will crown the best dressed fairies and trolls in the child and adult categories.

There will also be a visit from Poppy - the main character in Trolls - and opportunities for youngsters to have their photographs taken with her.

Fairies and trolls are also expected to be skating around the rink while about 30 stall holders let visitors browse through their crafts on sale.

There will also be refreshment stands selling delicious foods and icy cold beverages throughout the day .

Organiser Chris Scutt said: “We decided to run this event to bring some fun and magic to the area.

“With the recent hit film Trolls it seemed an ideal theme.”

The fairy and troll festival is taking place between 11am and 4pm.
