FAIRY dust was sprinkled over Dovercourt for a fantasy-themed weekend event.

About 100 children and their families arrived at Dovercourt Skating Rink, in Lower Marine Parade, on Sunday for a fairy and troll festival. The event, which was inspired by the 2016 fantasy film Trolls, saw magical beasts including a white and pink unicorn.

For the event fairies and troll skated around the rink, while stall holders let visitors browse through their crafts on sale.

Chris Scott, organiser, said: “I would say the main attractions drawing children to the event was between Poppy the troll and the unicorn. They also enjoyed story time with different fairies and there were lot of craft stalls and tinker bell.

“We got really good feedback about the event and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.”

The next event at the skating rink will be a roller disco on Friday, August 4.
