STROKE survivors and their families completed a charity walk in aid of a specialist support service.

Members of the Dovercourt branch of the Tendring Specialist Stroke Service walked around the Cliff Park gardens in Harwich on Tuesday.

The quarter-mile route was a milestone achievement for some participants who have limited mobility since suffering a stroke.

Moira Prentice, support team leader, said: “It was absolutely fantastic, they all managed to complete it.

“We had about 23 people take part, including family members.

“Harwich mayor John Brown and mayoress Carol, as well as councillors David McLeod and Dee King, came along and took part too, as well as people from the Fellowship For the Sick.

“We had a couple of people in wheelchairs and mobility scooters and the rest were walking, it was a very big achievement for some of them to walk.

“I’m very proud of them all.”

The amount raised from the walk is still being collected, but will all go to the stroke service.
