The Tendring Sports Personality Awards are approaching which means its time for you to put forward this year’s nominations.

The 2017 edition will be held at the Princes Theatre in Clacton, on November 2.

As always, organisers are keen for nominations to be put forward as Tendring’s top sporting heroes battle it out for the 11 trophies on offer.

Now in its 13th year, the awards are a partnership between Tendring Council and Activetendring.

Mick Skeels, councillor responsible for leisure and tourism, said: “These awards are always a very special occasion and the chance to celebrate those who achieve so much.

“It is an opportunity to honour those who put so much commitment into what they do and carry the name of Tendring to competitions around the country and abroad.

“They do the district proud wherever they go.”

There will be as many as five different categories on offer looking to celebrate the achievements of individuals, teams, coaches and volunteers.

Cllr Skeels added: “It is now over to the clubs and coaches and members of the public to put names forward to make the judges’ job as difficult as possible.”

The event will be sponsored by Rose Builders and once again has the support of the Clacton, Frinton and Walton Gazette, as well as the Harwich and Manningtree Standard.

The deadline for nominations is September 15.
