HEAVY rain washed out a community fun day after a morning of activities.
The free event at the Grange Road playing field in Dovercourt was set to run from 11am to 3pm but was called off half way through due to bad weather.
However, residents enjoyed a morning of fun which included stalls, a bouncy castle and climbing wall.
A football club held soccer sessions and the NHS provided health checks.
Nigel Brown, Tendring Council’s communications manager, said: “Those there for he first couple of hours were able to join in with all the various activities.
“Unfortunately the good old British summer then took over and a decision was made to call a halt to the event.
“It was a shame as it was going so well but there is nothing you can do about the rain.”
