Your pint from Spoons is set to get cheaper for one day only this month.
All JD Wetherspoon pubs are taking part in Tax Equality Day, which aims to show the unfair tax burdens pubs are dealing with.
Currently, pubs have to pay 20 per cent VAT on food and drink, but supermarkets benefit from the usual 7.5 per cent tax rate.
This means supermarkets can sell booze at a much cheaper rate than pubs.
Kate Nicholls, chief executive of The Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers, said: "Pubs and restaurants are vitally important parts of our communities and the UK’s economy, generating £60bn annually, and yet they find themselves on the back foot when competing with supermarkets for customers."
On September 20, Wetherspoon and other pubs will be charging people 7.5 per cent tax - meaning booze and food bought on that day cheaper.
