A SCHOOL cook has hung up her apron after 28 years in the kitchen.

Beverley Edwards started working at Lawford Primary School in 1989 as an assistant to the school cook.

A few years later she was promoted to school cook, providing more than 200 meals a day for schoolchildren in Lawford and Mistley.

“We wish her the very best of luck for the future and for her retirement which is well deserved after 28 years at the school.”

Mrs Edwards was given a farewell party before the summer holidays.

Children and staff had created a banquet lunch with red, white and blue flags Afterwards each class performed songs and dances and after school Mrs Edwards was treated to afternoon tea with teachers, governors and surprise guests including family.
