RESIDENTS have hit out in force against “foolish” and “ridiculous” plans to squeeze hundreds of homes into a village.

So far 68 residents have lodged their objections to Tendring Council’s planning website to build 500 homes on land off Long Road and Clacton Road in Mistley.

Tendring Farms submitted the application to Tendring Council asking to build the homes after plans for 300 homes on the site were granted permission.

The site has historically been a buffer between Mistley and Lawford.

Sarah Tonks, of School Lane, Lawford, submitted her objection to Tendring Council’s planning website.

She said: “I object strongly as we do not have the infrastructure to cope with the ridiculous amount of housing already planned for this area.

“I moved out of Colchester as it was becoming so built up and now Tendring is becoming the same.

“I have already noticed an increase in traffic, long queues at the pharmacy, and a long wait to see a doctor.”

The plans are for 500 homes on the 17-hectare site, 4.4 hectares of open space and two hectares of employment land with access from Dead Lane.
