A woman has died following a collision on the A120 this morning. 

The woman in her 50's was pronounced dead at the scene after she was hit by a lorry.

No-one has been arrested following the incident which happened on the eastbound carriageway near Great Dunmow.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called to reports of a woman found in the road at around 6.20am today."

"Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene and it is believed she had been in collision with a lorry.

"The road had been closed while we investigate but it will be re-opened very shortly."

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 6.20am to reports of a road traffic incident involving a lorry and a woman in her 50’s on the A120.

"The East of England Ambulance Service Trust dispatched two ambulance crews, an ambulance officer and Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene.

"Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts go out to her family and friends."

Anyone who saw what happened or who was driving in the area at the time and has dash cam footage or has any other information about the incident is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting incident 128 of 08/05.
