A PRIMARY school is celebrating after it received a 'Good' Ofsted rating for the second time running.

Harwich Community Primary School and Nursery was given the rating following an inspection earlier this year.

The visit was the first short inspection carried out since the school was judged to be good in July 2014.

The Ofsted report said: "You ensure that pupils are well taught across the school. You monitor the work of teachers and provide guidance on how they can improve. Teachers share ideas with each other."

However the education watchdog said the school needs to ensure attendance rates continue to rise and strategies to improve pupils' reading are further developed.

Rachel Anderson, headteacher, said: "The good outcome is a tremendous achievement for the whole school community and is truly deserved.

"I would like to congratulate all of our children for the way in which they conducted themselves during the inspection.

"The inspectors experienced first-hand pupils’ good behaviour, the fact that they are well-mannered and the pride they take in our school.

"This something we are very proud of too.

"I would also like to thank the staff for all their hard work throughout the school year, giving their everything to make our school the success it is.

"It is wonderful to have all this recognised.

"I believe that our school is moving from strength to strength and that has to be due to the hard work of staff and children and the great support we get from our parents and the community we serve."
